DISINTEGRATION TESTING IN CO ATMOSPHERE – ASTM C228

The VBCC Carbon Monoxide (CO) Disintegration Test Furnace is a specialized high-temperature vacuum atmosphere furnace designed for evaluating the resistance of refractory materials to disintegration and degradation in carbon monoxide-rich reducing environments. The system enables controlled exposure of refractory specimens to CO and nitrogen atmospheres at elevated temperatures, simulating actual service conditions encountered in blast furnaces, gasifiers, reduction kilns, and metallurgical processes.

The furnace incorporates a vacuum-tight metal chamber, external APM Kanthal heating system, programmable temperature control, vacuum pumping arrangement, and controlled gas atmosphere management. Designed for refractory manufacturers, steel plants, research institutions, quality control laboratories, and industrial R&D facilities, the system provides reliable and repeatable testing of refractory performance under reducing atmospheres.
